A cross with a ring at the top stake (shorter end); term comes from the Egyptian hieroglyphic for life. Some suggest that Christians later borrowed this imagery to associate Christ's cross with new birth or new life; the ankh is more generally associated with Wiccan worship. The cross's lower portion is associated with masculinity, while the upper portion, or circle, is associated with femininity.
