Boaz and Jachin

Masonic pillars. At the Rosslyn Chapel near Edinburgh, Scotland, The Da Vinci Code's Robert Langdon calls them "the most duplicated architectural structures in history" (435-36), a claim difficult to substantiate. He further states that they are the "exact replicas" of two pillars scripturally referenced (1 Kings 7:15-22; 2 Kings 25:16-17; 2 Chron. 3:15-17; 4:12-13; Jer 52:21- 23), of which the precise specifications and intricacies are simply not known — certainly there isn't enough information to ascertain what could be "exact replicas." In biblical times, the names of the two columns seem to have stood for certain declarations about God. The Jachin (Jakin) pillar appears to have meant, "Yahweh will establish [yakin or Jachin] thy throne forever." The Boaz pillar is believed to have represented "In Yahweh is the king's strength," specifically affirming the Hebrew (Old Testament) God. See also Rosslyn Chapel.
