Only one of his writings his letter to the church in Philippi has survived in complete form; written around 130, it's filled with quotations from the canonical New Testament, it refers to Jesus as "our Lord and God" and "the Son of God" (12:2), and it mentions his death and resurrection (1:2). Dan Brown's claim (DVC, 233) that Jesus was not recognized as the Son of God until the fourth century has no basis. See also apostolic fathers.
