In The Da Vinci Code, Robert Langdon accuses the Roman Catholic Church of creating a smear campaign against Mary Magdalene in order to exclude women from church leadership (238). Many advocates of sacred-feminine religion ignore or discount the abundance of female figures extolled in Judeo-Christian writings and the many teachings of Jesus requiring followers to treat all people with love and respect. Worship of the sacred feminine is based on self-exploration and finding holiness from within, in opposition to the Creator being distinct from creation.
